Additional Educational Programs
Transition Class
Students who have not been in religious education for a few years will be asked to be enrolled in a Transition Class. These classes are designed to fill in the gaps of religious education missed over the years. In these classes, two textbooks are used as a framework for catechesis. Our Catholic Faith by Sadlier Publications covers a broad spectrum of faith including the sacraments, the Mass, and the Ten Commandments. The We Believe textbook, also by Sadlier, is used for the last half of the year which covers the beginning of bible study. Currently, these classes are offered on Saturday mornings.
Children’s Catechumenate: RCIA for Children
Parents of any child 6 years of age or over seeking to be baptized in the Catholic faith, should call the SHARE FAITH Office to begin the process of classes to prepare the child for the reception of both Baptism and 1st Eucharist (Communion). Classes begin in January with just the parents and if possible prospective godparents. After two sessions with the adults of the family, classes then continue with the child included. At the end of preparation classes, the child receives both the sacrament of Baptism and 1st Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. Classes for this year meet on Saturday afternoons.
